In Tibetan Buddhism there are thanghka paintings depicting the Wheel of Life. At the centre there is a snake, a vulture and a donkey. The donkey represents not seeing life for as it is. The snake represents the part of us that pushes away discomfort/pain. The vulture represents the part of us that is attracted to comfort/pleasure.

What is profound is that this is deeply connected to the essence of Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy.

Comfort and discomfort effect the body and result in emotional and mental responses.

Comfort and discomfort are at the forefront of our relationship with health.

As we see in the word disease. Is not being at ease.

In my practice of Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy sessions based in Cooroy on the Sunshine Coast, my client’s bodies communicate the patterns of discomfort and the desire to return to comfort, which is in essence balance.

Yet, it’s a little more complex than avoiding discomfort and pursuing comfort.

Naturally comfort is favoured and discomfort is resisted. In Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy sessions our approach is to witness the body and its nature, it’s reactivity to stress and it’s pull towards attractive sensations.

This is where Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy is pivotal in supporting the development for health.

Dr. Steve Porgess, author of Polyvagal Theory found that the body not only has the sympathetic and the parasympathetic nervous system but also has a further nervous system embedded within the parasympathetic, hence the polyvagal theory. This sub branch of the nervous system is connected to the parasympathetic call the social engagement system. Which humans have developed and evolved more than all other species. This helps support the regulation of the nervous system via human connection. Which Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy utilises to facilitate health and healing.

It is why, the sessions are so profoundly therapeutic and address health conditions that have been untreatable by many other modalities, yet respond well to Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy.
