Massages are wonderful to receive, yet, few can serve to profoundly support a change in the entire
course of our lives. Each of us are designed to live lives full of depth, meaning and health. Yet, along the way, we might
come to lose a sense of purpose, connection and aliveness. Kahuna Temple Style
Bodywork truly supports us to reconnect with our essential nature and transform
anything that caused us to feel separated from who we already are.In my twenties, I received sessions from countless therapists. A doctor said I had Scoliosis and described
the condition as minor issue. I was in disbelief. I’d been bed-ridden at times,
in chronic pain, tension, limited mobility, and had anxiety. All of this impacted
my ability to work, relate and maintain relationships. It was impacting my life
and was beyond a minor issue. Thus began my journey into exploring the nature of the body and what supports health. When I first came across Kahuna Bodywork I was profoundly moved. I didn’t know it was possible to
experience a way of being in my body that didn’t involve chronic pain. As I
discovered Temple Style Bodywork, a more embodied style of Kahuna, I realised
that the integration process evolved and remained long after my initial session.Insights remained well after the post session glow. I would feel the benefit for days, weeks and
even months after the actual session. I felt reborn, recollected and renewed. It
was in-fact a shamanic journey of sorts for me where my soul would be
reintegrated.
Yet, in my experience this style of bodywork is quite rare, and few people hold such a sacred,
safe space. A person who works in this way supports a journey of the body,
mind, emotional body and soul to return home. And this is what supports health. Which was why, when I first trained in massage and later in Kahuna I sensed something more embodied
and wholehearted was possible.Years later, I found a more esoteric style of massage where the original Hawaiian approach honours
the individual as a temple. That the body is sacred. An approach that treats bodywork
as a rite of passage for the soul. This is how Kahuna Temple Style Bodywork
works. In a way that supports holistic integration. Where, as a practitioner
the bodywork becomes a homecoming for the client into their wholeness, into
their body, mind, heart to reconnect with their essence and soul.
I trained in this style of massage one on one, receiving sessions and giving sessions. I trained with someone who I consider to be a Shaman who embodies depth and has supported my own growth
and healing. These are all pivotal aspects to be able to work as a therapist
that can truly support a journey of genuine healing. Each session, is then an opportunity, a powerful portal, where the client is revered, prayed for, sung
to, toned, smudged, rocked, soothed and supported all whilst being massaged and
loved unconditionally. Bringing all aspects of a therapeutic alliance between
body, breath, spirit and soul so that true healing can occur.
